The Gate of Japanese
With the Gate of Japanese, you can see Japanese web sites without having a Japanese system. Before you start, you need to install Japanese character image files to your machine. Download the file gate.zip (733,860 bytes) and use UNZIP for it to get the file gate2.zip. Then use UNZIP again for the file gate2.zip to get the image files. They are 7267 GIF files, and their total size is 918,470 bytes.
It is necessary to input the directory you have installed the image files, say c:\japanese\images, in the Image directory field. The Document URL field determines the first page you will see.
The quality of the image files is so low that enlarging them doesn't help much for you to learn Japanese characters. The quality, however, is enough for anyone who knows Japanese characters to read.
This program was changed on January 6, and it is not compatible with the previous version. Delete all image files and download gate.zip again if you have installed the previous version.
