I'm having trouble understanding this certain sentence with 託する in it. It's 彼は情熱を詩に託した. The translation given is "he expressed his passion in poetry," which is fine, but the definition I was given for 託する in this context is かこつける。ことよせる。
I don't have much of a problem with using a poem as a pretext for passion, I guess; the problem comes with the 情熱を part. I've looked at example sentences of 託する (in this sense), かこつける, and ことよせる, and none of them have an を phrase. So, I don't know exactly what the structure is here. Also, in this sense, it seems that the structure is invariably 〜に託して〜した, but this sentence uses it as a final predicate. What am I missing?
